Apache Unomi is a new Apache project in incubation. It is a prototype reference implementation of the upcoming OASIS Context Server (CXS) specification (https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/cxs/) to help standardize personalization of online experience while promoting ethical web experience management and increased user privacy controls. We will introduce Unomi's concepts and examine its architecture and its REST API to access the different dimensions of collected data. Built on top of Apache Karaf, a great OSGi runtime, Unomi provides a modular approach to digital marketing services and leverages an ElasticSearch persistence to support powerful analysis of data, even lending itself to feeding Big Data frameworks. We will also look at how it promotes ethical web content management and hopes to help reconcile Digital Marketing with user privacy expectations.
